CALLIOPE

Language & command layer

The natural-language interface used across the team's tools — standalone, not a MUSE component. Used throughout GLYPH today, and headed toward most of the other tools.

What it is

The layer between typing and doing

CALLIOPE is how natural language turns into action inside the team's tools — commands, queries, and shorthand phrased the way a person would actually say them, resolved into the specific operation a tool needs to run. It's the same interface whether you're driving GLYPH's terminal, its command palette, or (eventually) other tools entirely.

Why it's here, not in MUSE

Standalone by design

CALLIOPE isn't a MUSE component — it doesn't simulate anything and has nothing to do with entity behavior. It's infrastructure for using the tools, which happens to include the tools that build MUSE. It graduated to Laboratories the same way any Workshop build can: the whole team relies on it now, not just its original author. (Internally it's still called BABEL in the codebase — CALLIOPE is the name used in conversation and UI.)
