For Education

What if learning didn't have a wrong answer — just a world that responds to whatever you do?

Literacy & Engagement

IES Grant Program

The NAEP reading scores haven't budged in two decades. The interventions keep failing because they treat reading as a skill drill, not as something a person wants to do. Agency changes that. When a child has real control over what happens in a world — when the world actually responds to their choices — they read to find out what happens.

MUSE Living Worlds for education aren't gamification bolted onto reading. Reading is the interface to a living world. The story doesn't exist until you read it into being.

Neurodivergence & Inclusion

NICHD Grant Program

Scripted environments fail neurodivergent learners because they were designed for one kind of mind. Emergent simulation doesn't script outcomes — it creates conditions and lets each learner find their own path. There is no wrong way to play.

MUSE environments for neurodivergence practice give learners real social simulation to navigate at their own pace — social situations that adapt to them, not the other way around.

Historical Simulation

Walk through ancient Rome as it was. Experience the Industrial Revolution as a worker, a factory owner, a child. Feel what your ancestors felt — not as a memorized date on a test, but as a world you inhabit.

MUSE historical simulations are populated with entities whose behaviors derive from historical records, archaeological data, and anthropological research. They are not reconstructions — they are living approximations.

Empathy Training

Perspective-taking through simulation works differently from perspective-taking through text. When you inhabit someone else's day — their environment, their constraints, their social dynamics — you build a model of that experience, not just a description of it. That model is what empathy is.

MUSE empathy training experiences are designed around this principle: live someone else's day, experience a world that wasn't built for you, make decisions inside circumstances you didn't choose.

Rehabilitation

Experience-based rehabilitation has better outcomes than lecture-based rehabilitation in a range of behavioral and social domains. MUSE can create the controlled, repeatable simulation environments that make this possible at scale.

Note: Therapeutic simulation applications require clinical validation. This is a longer-horizon research pathway. We are pursuing partnerships with clinical institutions to develop and validate these applications appropriately.
